Publication in two issues of Black & White Magazine in one year…half a year, actually! That’s right, it’s time to see which of my photos were recently published in this premier publication of black and white photography.
In March, you saw that one of my photos received the coveted ‘Spotlight Award’ in Black & White Magazine. That contest was for single images submitted by photographers. Now, we see my photos published in the portfolio category, where photographers submit mutiple photos of a related subject for judging, and then hopefully publication.
Issue No. 154 can be found at your newsstands now…if you can find a newsstand, that is. I use Barnes & Noble…they had it when I visited two weeks ago. Here is the cover.
Though you expect to see topics of Italy on my website, once again you will see some non-Italy photos as I go about blowing my own horn. The subject of my portfolio selected for publication was the Sonoran desert of the southwest. I just love this area of the US. The wide-open spaces are filled with scenery of stark beauty that intrigue me.
If you had a copy of this latest Black & White Magazine in hand, you could turn to pages 92 & 93 to see my work. But alas, as you are empty handed, I’ll go ahead and show you the three photos that were selected for publication.
Sonoran Desert #12
Sonoran Desert #8
Desert Boulders #3
Other Photos in the Portfolio Submission
Though only three of my submissions were published, in all, I submitted 13 photos in my portfolio of desert photography. Here are the other 10 photos that we not selected for publication. As always, if you click on an image you will get a full-screen view.
My horn has been tooted, so it’s time to go. In the next issue, we will be closing out the series on Eating In Italy as we learn all about the Italian ‘digestivi’. Until then, I say…
Ciao for now,
Steve
